Kuching, Part I

SCV main gate
Kampung Budaya Sarawak (Sarawak Cultural Village - I make it short as SCV) is located in Kuching district, Sarawak, Malaysia. If you have limited time to spent in Sarawak, this is the ideal place that you should not loose to visit. Just 35km (around 45 min by hotel van) from Kuching city, I describe this place as 'all-in-one Sarawak' where you could enjoy the multi-culture experience of the people of Sarawak. There are longhouses for every Sarawakian ethnics, colourful costumes, local foods and cultural show. So my friend, visiting SCV means you are visiting the entire Sarawak (except there no mini cave and river - I suggest they will do it especially for Rajang river and Niah cave, hehehe). Here, you can experience in 3D - its real. The most enjoying activity for me was using the blow pipe at the Penan house. At certain longhouse, they demonstrate the cooking process of their local food and some of them making colourful Sarawakian costumes. Here, at the foothills of the legendary Mount Santubong, I can feel the tranquility of the untouched and pure tropical environment (unless you are single or couple backpacker who want more challenging environment, just go deeper to the Sarawakian part). The air is fresh and it facilities are complete - suitable for family too. I stayed overnight at Damai Beach Resort. It was a nice stay there. The service was great and I enjoy the local food served there. The price was reasonable. Located by the seaside, there were a lot of activities to enjoy. Feel tired and strain muscle? Let them give you a massage by the seaside!
